Jada, Lana & Levi started school yesterday!  I know I was more excited than they were.

I went in to wake them up and they…got up! The girls made their beds, got dressed and brushed their hair without me telling them to!!!  They were all perfect angels.

At 8 we walked over to the school for the Open House, donuts, and a little play time before school started.  I had the chance to talk to the teachers, which was really nice.

Levi didn’t get upset when I told him I was leaving and he had a smile on his face when I picked him up after school.  Jada was the only one with homework and she wasn’t really happy about it!

Levi is in Kindergarten and his teacher is Mrs. Hardy.  This is her last year of teaching as she will retire at the end of the year.

Lana is in 3rd grade and she has two teachers.  Mrs. Freer (Ms. Deidre) is her homeroom teacher, but she also spends half of her day with Mrs. Herring.

Jada is in 4th grade and her teacher is Mrs. Shuster.

After Jonah starts school in a few weeks, I will probably be volunteering at Jane Addams…unless I get a job!

The last week in July was spent hanging out at Folly Beach, SC.  Dad and Steph booked a beach house for the entire family last summer.  So we made the 16 hour trek out there.  The kids were extremely well behaved on the trip.  We drove to KY and spent the night and then we drove 8 hrs the next day and stayed in Columbia, SC.  My friend Sherry lives there and was able to come and visit with us for a little bit!  The next morning we were off to the beach!

The house was incredible….as it had to be to house 7 adults and 9 kids!  It was right on the beach, too!  I thoroughly enjoyed getting up early and drinking my tea on the deck and watching dolphins in the quiet morning.  It was also nice to know that the kids could be at the beach or in the house and there was at least one adult there, so we didn’t have to all be in one place or another.

Jada, Lana, Levi and Bill all tried their hand a boogie boarding.  Jonah and I hung out in the shallower water.  Jonah loved to run in the little tide pools.

One night, Bill and I took the girls down the beach with flash lights to find crabs.  The girls were excited to see one until it started crawling really fast.

On our last day there we went on a boat tour to an island with a light house.  On our way, we saw a few dolphins up close.  While we were there, I found a sand dollar…which has since broken…and Lana got stung by a jellyfish.  We also ended up purchasing hermit crabs for the kids.  They have been a lot more work than I anticipated, and we’ve had one casualty.

All in all, it was a great time.  Everyone has said that they would like to go back!!!
